“Son of Jack”

How it got the name

Mississippi built a capital at Le Fleur's Bluff in 1821 and named it for Andrew Jackson, then celebrated for the victory at New Orleans and not yet president. The city was laid out on a checkerboard plan that Thomas Jefferson had proposed, with alternating blocks left as green space.
